And with all the environmental disasters happening, and the rise of fascism around the world, the next generations will have to do the same.īut that’s what makes Goodbye Volcano High’s story so tragic. To this day, we’re still trying to pick up the pieces of that mess, trying to pretend everything’s fine when we know they’re not. As a millennial, I grew up with the world promised to me too, and instead I witnessed the economy caving in on itself and my family falling apart. ![]() “How are we supposed to just… be fine?” That last line in the new trailer really struck home to me. You can only cope and put on fake smiles for so long before how you really feel boils over. ![]() And these kids are cracking under the pressure. And all the while, the adults in their lives are so used to not rocking the boat that they want things to just go about like normal, like they always have. The whole notion of a bunch of kids growing up with the whole world being promised to them, working hard to prove themselves and come into their own, only for the world to be coming to a sudden, awful end, and they have to witness every minute of it. I think one of the reasons Goodbye Volcano High has resonated with me so much is its premise.
